Ambati Rambabu was born in repalle, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh to Smt Venkatasubbamma and Sri A.V.S.R.Anjaneyulu, an advocate by vocation, and a senior congress functionary by choice and Mr Rambabu is the first born and he has a younger brother, Murali Krishna and two younger sisters.. He did his schooling in avanigadda of Krishna district, and graduated from A B N Degree College of Repalle. His brother Mr Murali Krishna is a mechanical engineering by training. He is part of a firm of techno crats, engaged in road building work in Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh. His two sisters Mrs Vijaya Lakshmi and Mrs. Vani Shree hold bachelor degrees. They chose to be house wives Ambati Rambabu, synonymous now with idealistic improvisation and instint, pragmatic analysis of political events started His public life quite early in life. His entry into public life was as a student activist in NSUI. A child prodigy in politics, His entry into youth congress was natural, and his activities on behalf of the working class and the downtrodden was unrelenting since the early stages of his political life The elder son of a senior advocate and senior congress leader Sri AVSR Anjaneyulu , Mr AMBATI RAMBABU has proved to be a spontaneous orator on social issues. Subsequently he was elected as the president of the student union first in the junior college, later of the ABR Degree college of Repalle. As a result of his logical approach to social issues it is natural he was elected to the post of secreatary of the students union NYAYA VIDYA PARISHAD , a law college in Vishakapatnam. Ambati Rambabu was intrinsically interested in books and literature. And led to the philosophy of Karl Marx and the non violent principle of Mahatma Gandhi. He believed in a true synthesis of the two concepts. This synthesis acted as an impetus in his laying a firm belief in the policies of the congress party and the 20 point programme of Indira Gandhi. His elevation to the post of president of the district youth congress. Gradually rambabu began to the symbiotic relationship between politics and social change aiming at affecting a social change in favour of the working class and the downtrodden; He took to election politics and was elected to the assembly at the young age of 31 from repalle assembly constituency of Gunter District From his early Mr. Rambabu began to harbors strong convictions as to the ideal systems of social justice from his early teens. His belief in the equality of all classes of humanity wouldn’t allow any injustice go unprotested . Consequently he evolved into a natural leader of social activists of Velanadu, He was staunch, unrelenting and knew no bounds in his struggles. Naturally rambabu evolved into a true champion of the underdog but his fight, often spontaneous and whole hearted , led him to taking physical risk his effort was dubbed militant Having born into a family of farming and legal practices rambabu choose to study law besides being a son of a senior lawyer rambabu envisaged legal practice as a an opportunity to champion the cause of the weaker sections and the downtrodden
Mr. Ambati rambabu is related to the political families of Divitaluk of Krishna District from his mother’s side and is related to the political families of Guntur district from his father’s side his schooling and his involvement as a student activist thus are straddled the river Krishna extending to Krishna and Guntur Districts Mr. Rambabu completed his secondary education in avanigadda of Krishna District he completed. His college education in ABR College of Repalle. He graduated from Andhra University in 1979 but his pursuit of formal education was not steady and smooth. His struggle for social justice his readiness to take up the cause of the under privileged his defiance of authority for the cause of the poor laborers and the exploited artisans such as potters and weavers came in the way of a successful pursuit of uninterrupted college education It is to be admitted that Mir Ambati Rambabu was naïve in his ideal of social justice and economic equality. His sence of justice would not permit any compromise in the unalloyed objective of strict equality among social strata. His attitude to any injustice fomented against the downtrodden class may be dubbed as zero tolerance Mr. Rambabu in his naive optimism aimed at quick, total justice his readiness to take up the cause of the under privileged earned him committed followers among the weaker section but the same attitude earned him a united front of the society these vested interests dubbed him as militant. Naturally a score of civil as well as criminal cases were foisted upon him Naturally justice ultimately privileged every single court case civil as well as criminal could not stand and Mr. Ambati Rambabu was exonerated and was acquitted and Mr. Rambabu resumed his pursuit of formal education Election resulted in the victory of TDP. Congress party in Repalle was humbled. TDP and CPM held sway in Repalle. Congress failed to enthuse the cadres. Even by 1985 congress could not inspire the cadres. Could not win over the voter’s mind. Again the congress was defeated and the cadres were left dishearten. Since 1983 elections the congress party in Repalle cont. had been languishing in disunity and in a state of hibernation. Activity was kept to the barest minimum. Squabbles reigned supreme in the party In such circumstances Ambati Rambabu emerged as a natural choice to lead the Repalle congress. He took over the reigns and rejuvenated the cadres by exercising his sharp vision, tenacity of purpose and analytical approach. He rebuilt the party and reestablished people’s faith in the party’s policies. His organizational skills and his co-coordinating approach reunited and strengthened the party. Rambabu exercised his power of comprehension and his empirical prowess for achieving the required organizational vigor to the party His singularity of purpose, and perseverance endeared him to the state congress. Hence he emerged as the natural choice for constituency the Repalle constituency.
Ambati Rambabu nurtured his own set of ideas and his own vision as to minimizing. social disparities through political functioning. Electoral victory and subsequent attaining of administrative power are not ultimate goals in themselves. They could, at best, serve to attain governmental power. But neither electoral victory nor attainment of executive. Power is an end in itself. Both of these objectives, in the view of Ambati Rambabu, are means to an end. The ultimate goals are social equality and economic advancement. Every phase of our administration should strive for devising innovative policies aiming at midi gating the existing disparities in distribution of the fruit of the economic progress. And the administration is required to explore ways and means for effective implementation of these policies. The policies of an administration not only should create wealth but also should calibrate the implementation so that the resultant growth and prosperity percolates to the lowest stratum of the society. This objective has solidifies in Ambati Rambabu’s political vision . Unless the underprivileged, the downtrodden masses and the minorities, the back ward classes and the dalit working class are benefited by our progress, our electoral victory should turn meaningless. Unless a politician is committed to this unwavering cause, his functioning can not hold water. A political functionary with such an ideal in vision backed by an unrelenting will for implementation of the goal is equivocally dear to the heart of Ambati Rambabu. He found such an ideal leader in Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy. Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy was generous — almost prodigal, in his promises to the masses and to the farmers. And the great leader was staunchly militant in keeping his promises in word and in spirit. Ambati Rambabu was so attracted by the policies that he adopted Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy as his ultimate leader. Mr Aambati Rambabu has been consistently holding the view that Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy is the ultimate savior of the masses. Rambabu believed that Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy only had the vision and moral strength to revitalize the stagnant economy and the crippled agricultural sector of Andhra Pradesh. Ambati Rambabu has not been proven wrong by the policies devised subsequently by the leader, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy, especially Dr Reddy’s boldness in striving for completing the heavy irrigation projects. By the strength of his determination to implement welfare schemes such as scholarships for BC’s and for the minorities, reservations. For minorities, subsidized rice for large masses, Indiramma housing schemes for the poor and finally the much renowned Arogya Sri Scheme, which has justly proven to be the uyltimate savior of the poor masses. Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy’s conviction in the scheme has been endorsed as it has given a second life by virtue of saving countless lives of the poor and the under privileged, who would not have had access to such life saving, expensive treatment in corporate hospitals but for the Arogya Sri Scheme of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy. Loyalty to a cause, loyalty to an ideal, loyalty to the vision, loyalty to individual. Ambati Rambabu gives ultimate priority to this human virtue. His vision demands loyalty at times of smooth sailing and at times of striving against odds. Loyalty to vision and to the leader is his forte. Commitment and loyalty stood him in good stread and endeared Rambabu Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Ambati Rambabu is unweaving in his commitment to the cause and to Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy kept pressurizing him to contest in the elections in 2004 and again in 2009 Elections. But Rambabu was staunch in his stand and persuaded Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy that he was more committed to see Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy coming to power than in taking the opportunity to become elected in Elections. Rambabu persuaded the great leader that Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy coming to power was more important than Rambabu reentering the assembly as an MLA . Rambabu got his volition endorsed by Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy and did not contest the election both 2004 and again in 2009. Rambabu relinquished his chance and plunged into party work at the hour of extreme need. And he never regretted for losing the opportunity as his wish to see Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy coming to power was realized. But Time takes its own turns and twists. It does not fall in line with human wishes. And individual ideals, however noble they may be, are at the mercy of the vagaries of Time. A totally unexpected shock, not only to Ambati , but to the entire Telugu speaking world was in store. The pivotal hope of the Telugu speaking people was abruptly snapped by a cruel helicopter crash in the thick forest of Nallamala Hills. The cardinal hope of the downtrodden and the poor evaporated with the sad demise of the personification of love, of affection, of credibility and of social advancement: Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. The sad demises of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, the strong, determined leader caused a void in the party. This abrupt turn was an opportunity for the vested interests. These vested interests tried to cash on the absence of a string leader. They initiated a an vilification campaign for their own ends. They tried to perpetuate nefarious ramifications in the party, as well as in the governance. Every effort was made by these vested interests to dilute the welfare schemes initiated by Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Aspersions were cast over the integrity and over the sincerity of purpose of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. A concerted vilification program was initiated by those who had been lying low when the great leader was alive.Gradually the mud slugging operations gained momentum. And every sincere congress workers was sidelined. Furthermore, the great leader’s son was targeted as a power seeker. Mr Jaganmohana Reddy’s humanitarian effort to console the families of those who committed suicide was misinterpreted. And the same coterie in the party put every effort to make hurdles in the program the Odarpu Yatra. Every individual who sincerely loved Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, was harassed. Some were bounded out of the party. This was a crucial juncture in the history of Andhra Pradesh. This was the testing time for every congress loyalist. Ambati Ramababu sincerely believed that unless one was loyal to the cause one could not be perseverance in obtaining the goal envisaged by the great visionary Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Grief stricken Rambabu convinced himself that there would be a sincere follow-up to the welfare schemes, and to the farmer friendly, pro-poor policies that had been envisaged and started by Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy and the congress government, under the leadership of a successor, would continue the schemes in order to bring Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy’s vision to a logical conclusion. But Ambati rambabu was anguished to learn what was unfolding in the new administration. A number of welfare schemes benefiting the poor and the working class that had been launched by Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy either were shelved, or were drastically spruced up. Indiramma Housing Scheme has been put on the back burner. Arogya Sree, the life saving scheme for the underprivileged and the patients from the downtrodden, is left to languish in casual implementation. Draconian clauses were introduced in order to minimize the eligible patients, there by depriving the marginal selections from this life saving scheme. Additionally, the farming community, the backbone of the economy, is being put to untold hardship. Free electricity scheme is administered only in letter but not in its true spirit. As such, the spirit of the scheme is lost. Barely three of five hours of electricity is given in the scheme, thus making agriculture unworkable for upland farmers. Input subsidies are reduced. Prices of fertilizers, insecticides and diesel all major input in agriculture, are sky rocketing. Above all, every farm produce is under priced. And there are no takers to buy at support prices. Even the support prices of paddy and sugar cane and of other products have rendered agriculture enviable. Thus the farming community, rich as well as marginal sections of it are left to the mercy of nature and of the trader and the private money lender. This situation is bound to flare up. Cornered and helpless as being left with no option, many farmers are committing suicide. And the number of farm suicides is bound to go up. Against these developments, ambati rambabu, realized that the vision of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy was bound to be left unimplemented. And the congress party was determined to erase the memory of the great leader from the masses. And every sincere worker of the Congress Party should explore avenues for every available option for the ultimate welfare of the masses. These circumstances prompted Ambati Rambabu to review and rethink. He saw that the lone option left for all the genuine congress workers was to revive the legacy of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, Ambati rambabu saw a true continuation of the vision, affection for the masses, and sincerity of purpose and, the determination of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy in the form of Mr Jaganmohana Reddy. Rambabu holds the view that Jagan is the sole legible claimant not only as a son, but also as a true follower and successor of the vision of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy .Rambabu saw a dedicated lover of the masses, and a determined visionary for the well being of the underprivileged in Mr Jaganmohana Reddy. He is the true successor of the vision and determination of his father Against this background, in these circumstances, Rambabu holds the view that Sri Y.S.Jaganmohana Raddy should galvanize the democratic forces in order to save the vision of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Every true Congress functionary should now see which force is the true torch bearer of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. The opportunity awaits all the congress workers to lend the maximum possible support to Sri Y.S.jaganmohana Reddy so that the true vision of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy is saved and the spirit of welfare to the masses holds victory ultimately.
Ambati Rambabu’s wedding took place in May 1987 with Vijaya lakshimi, Daughter of Sri Kagithala Nancharaih, the then village head of Avanigadda, Krishna District Mrs. Vijaya lakshmi holds a bachelor degree in arts. Rambabu is blessed with three daughters. His eldest daughter Mounika is in the final year of medical course. His second daughter Manogna is studying the second year of MBBS course. His third daughter Sreeja has joined the first year of MBBS course. Thus all the three daughters are pursuing medical education. Mrs. VijayaLakshmi Rambabu has been consistently cooperating in bringing up the children and looking after the day affairs of running the family. Rambabu is so busy shuttling between the capital and Guntur District that he practically is unable to allot his time to spend with his family. Rambabu is fortunate to have an understanding, cooperative wife, in that he is free to pursue his political activity for full time as he is freed of day to day family running.
